New Children’s Pathways accepts referrals from a variety of difference sources from schools, parents, carers, medical practitioners, support agencies, statutory agencies and third sector service providers. As an organisation we also encourage young people to self-refer to our service.

Bulk Billing/Medicare Appointments

If you are a client who is accessing our services through “Better access to mental Health” under the Medicare model, you must have a referral from your General Practitioner. This will ensure that the Medicare rebate can be claimed. The cost for service is determined by your personal circumstances and this can be discussed with our team once your referral is received.

Private Clients

If you are accessing our services through a privately funded mode, it is not a requirement for you to obtain a referral from your general practitioner. There may be a possibility that you can claim a rebate with a referral depending on the nature of the presenting issues.

Appointment Scheduling

When you make an appointment, you will receive an email confirming your appointment details. The day prior to your appointment, you will also receive an SMS reminder. Please ensure that you attend your appointment at the allocated time and advise us within 24 hours if you are unable to make your appointment.

Medical Practitioners and Allied Health Workers

For medical practitioners or service providers wishing to refer a client, this can be done through the following options:

  • Handing the referral document to the client and advising them to contact us to schedule the next available appointment
